Red Hat Linux 9 is the most stable version of linux although Fedora 7 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 are in the market but for the linux beginners it is the best one.

Can anyone help me out, I have no idea how to install this.. i am currently running xp and i want to use vmware. So anything would help! thnxs
for installing linux you need a non dos partition
ie. a /root,/boot&/swap partition
minimum 10 gb of space,
swap partition=2*size of ram,
otherwise go to red hat linux site they have provided the detailed installation procedure

this allows you to partition your disk before u install right like every other linux OS (GRUB)

To install in VMWare, install vmware (of course), on the lower right hand corner there is an icon for the cd rom drive, it's the one on the left. click on that ind tell it where to install from. You can use an .iso or run it from your dvd drive
do you have the enterprise server 5 because i wouldlike to get it..
To install this os, before you do one thing ...
install the magic iso then write the iso image in cd's after put in cdrom the first red hat linux 9 cd 1, next next.....it will work

In vmware it will work fine ...just put the cd in cdrom.....then go to new work station....
and create appropreate harddisk space it allocate the hdd space from the partition.
then you will get a new window in the vmware.. in that right corner there is some options (from cdrom,from iso somethinggg)select what you wish thats it... it will boot..vmware work station 5 is the best i think..then other....

Try VirtualBox its FREE from Sun MicroSystems.
You can also find other computer images here on TPB that are premade and run on VirtualBox.
