This is a wonderful CD! I first picked it up at a regular record store in town. I was very pleased to find that it worked wonderfully as background music for practicing Tai Chi, in particular, Qi Gong or other mediatative arts. I also find it is conducive for massage work. I brought it to my Yoga/Tai Chi Studio and quickly found it was a favorite among the students... which is why I am ordering a second copy through Amazon, since the students have kidnapped the original.

I find the music similar in nature to Gregorian chant in use of repetition to create a meditative state. However, it is much lighter and airier than a Gregorian chant, and definitely Chinese in melodic structure... and it's melodic too.

Buddhist Chanting is for everyone but these are not chants, January 26, 2001
As a recent convert to Buddhism, I can say that this CD has been an important part of my collection. I belong to a Chinese Mahayana Temple here in Japan and both these melodies are familiar to me. Only one of the pieces recorded are what many reviewers are calling "chants" though. The rest are devotional songs sung outside of the temple for lay people to meditate to or to copy out the Heart Sutra in Chinese characters as a meditation practice. I use this CD for that purpose. I recommend this to anyone who is interested in Chinese traditional music, Buddhism, Tai Chi, Qigong etc. Peace

More Relaxing than a Summer Sunset!, July 26, 2000 By Joseph J. Hanssen "Joe" (Upstate New York)

This is music for reflection and relaxation from the Far East, and that about says it all. I wanted to hear some different sort of Chants and found this wonderful CD in my personal search. Traditional Buddhist music is acoustic. The recordings on this collection represent the more modern form of the genre presently popular in China and Taiwan, with the singing augmented by reflective keyboards which add to the restful and relaxing nature of the music.

I find this music wonderful for meditation and just what I need to relax and escape from everyday stress. I enjoy listening to these Chants over and over again. Highly recommended.

What a blissful adventure. The music is delicate, but at the same time it has the power to move the emotions to a deep level of joy and serenity. Ahhhh, I wish I could find a few more like this!

Simply great!, November 17, 1999
A great cd. The simple chantings bring one's mind out of the daily reality and takes one into the state of peace and tranquility. After a day's work, it calms me down, relaxes both body and mind, cleanses the soul. I can't praise it enough.

Spiritual and peaceful, a beautiful way to relax, June 20, 1999
I wish I had the words to describe the beauty of this music. I have never heard anything more peaceful and relaxing.

Music that transcends the physical, May 29, 1999
I first heard this music during a Qi Kung session and was totally mesmerized. It has become part of my daily routine to listen to this CD and has added joy, calmness and sense of peace to my former hectic lifestyle. In short, I have slowed down!

Beautifull music that breathes tranquility., November 1, 1998
I/we first heard this music during a Qi Gong session at Phoenix House Haga. The music added a gentle softness to the session and the sounds flowed beyond the classroom, all the participants wish to buy copies. This music is like meeting a new friend.

I know its strange but the first track sounds kind of like Gregorian Chants sung by that guy in the ERA album looking from east.... Guess you had to have listened to it to understand. But its definetely to Latin or churchy...
