Back in 1995, Chrono Trigger was one of the last great RPGs being released for the Super Nintendo in America, and that was at least partly due to the beautiful soundtrack composed by Yasunori Mitsuda.

This 3-CD set features all the music from CT, as well as two unreleased tracks that never made it into the game (Singing Mountain and Battle 2, both of which are quite good, and which could only be accessed in the game through a cheat device). It\'s a Japanese soundtrack, so the liner notes are in Japanese - however, there are translations of the track list easily available, and the booklet is adorned with Akira Toriyama\'s artwork (of Dragon Ball Z fame).

Remember: the game was for the Super Nintendo, so don\'t expect sound quality along the lines of its sequel, Chrono Cross; however, the SNES was the first system which was able to reasonably imitate most instruments, so the sound quality doesn\'t detract too much from the experience. Also, the music doesn\'t have the soothing Celtic influence found on Mitsuda\'s later soundtracks, to Xenogears and Chrono Cross.

Highlights of this set include: on disc 1, Chrono Trigger, Wind Scene, and Fanfare 1; on disc 2, Robo\'s Theme and Magus\' Theme; and on disc 3, Time Circuits, Schala\'s Theme, To Far Away Times, and Crono and Marle - The Distant Promise.

If you\'re a fan of Chrono Trigger, you owe it to yourself to buy this soundtrack!
